It never fails, at the end of the day, after dinner is served, and the kids are in bed, it hits me…the sweet tooth. Candy, desserts or sugary treats were never one of my vices. I couldn’t stand chocolate, if we went to a donut store, I would get a sausage roll instead of a donut and I would always pick the piece of cake with the least amount of icing on it at birthday parties. All that went out the door of course when I had kids. What did they do to me?! I’ve consumed more cobblers, pies, ice cream, cupcakes and mini candybars this past 5 years than I have in my whole life.

I’ve been eating healthy and clean for a while now, but the urge still hits me just the same. I cope with the cravings by making this one, very simple protein shake. It’s made with Micellar Casein Protein instead of just regular whey protein. Casein is a slower digesting protein that is low in sugar and calories, so it’s perfect as a nightcap.

Casein protein is a slow digesting protein that thickens in your stomach and steadily releases amino acids into your bloodstream. It is ideal for between meals and before bed to feed your muscles and fuel recovery.
Noone explains Casein better than bodybuilding.com. You don’t have to be a bodybuilder to benefit from their website. Click here to get a more in-depth look at Casein Protein and anything else related to fitness and health.
Whether it’s whey protein or casein, vanilla is the flavor to stick with. Think about it…vanilla can be flavored with just about anything. If you get tired of it, then just add some cocoa, or some fruit. If you buy a whole tub of chocolate-mint, or strawberry and you get sick of it, your stuck with it! Keep your options open people!
