So we’ve taken quite the hiatus from our blog. All I can say is I am glad to be back. I didn’t realize until a couple months ago, how much I need this little project to stay alive. It keeps me on track; it motivates me to keep getting better and keeps my creative juices flowing.

I was in such a rut mentally, which ultimately translated into my training and diet. I still hit the gym every morning, but with much less motivation and little to no direction or goal in site. Justin, on the other hand, has actually flourished over the past few months. He finally reached his long-time goal of weighing 200 lbs and has maintained that weight for a few weeks now. He is bigger, he is stronger, and has taken his first steps towards hitting the stage by working with a posing coach.

Our food was mostly clean, but uninspired and involved copious amounts of peach or berry cobblers with a healthy dose of ice cream on top before bedtime. I justified having all the evening desserts because I made them with coconut oils, almond meal and natural sugars instead of the refined junk like white sugar, flour and butter. It was a step in the right direction, but my portions were just out of control! But that’s what I do when I’m stressed, I eat. I know I will always struggle with emotional eating and sometimes it will take me over.

BUT, I’ve learned that it’s okay to fail….as long as I recognize the problem and re-focus. And that’s exactly what I’m doing now.

Once it finally clicked that it was okay to fall, I picked myself up, vowed to put a stop to the nightly sugar-fest, changed up my workouts, and immediately began re-designing the site. I needed something new, something fresh, so it’s only natural that the look of our blog conveys just that. I want to make sure that this time around we incorporate as much about our gym time as we do the food that we eat. Whether it’s posting our workouts, reviewing products we use, or talking about people who inspire us to be better, our goal is to have balance in all that we do.

So, to kick off our return we would love for you to check out our new DIY page.  You’ve already seen Justin’s DIY Power Rack, and now we’ve added the easy-to-follow instructions for making your own Weightlifting Platform for under $150! Enjoy!
